Camel (or Hiking) Safari

Two days Camel Safaris

We offer a variety of two day camel safaris so that we can provide our customers the chance of a lifetime to ride a camel into the desert and sleep under the stars just like the Bedouins have done for thousands of years. Along the way, we'll pass by various forms of terrain including desert landscapes, mountains, sand dunes and oases.

* Canyons and Oasis by Camel

The White Canyon

This site is located 700 m above sea level along the way to St. Catherine, known for it's white soft sandstone terrain. When you descend, you will find Ain Khudra Oasis where you'll observe Bedouin families living in traditional tents, following the natural water sources for their livestock.

Ain Khundra

A palm tree and desert vegetation paradise located 53 km North of Dahab. At this site you will observe the desert at it's most natural state when Mother Nature has been so kind as to bring some rain. There is natural spring which irrigates the landscape.

The Closed Canyon

This canyon is best for the limber rock climbing enthusiast. (Larger folks or claustophobics would definitely be uncomfortable due to the tight spaces one must climb through). If you are up for a bit of climbing in addition to the camel ride, this is an optimal choice.

Melehez Oasis tour

The search for water occupies the traditional nomadic Bedouin family. At this site, your guide will show you the cracks in the rock formations where either sweet or salty water flow naturally. Take your camera as the rocks have a very colorful pinkish hue to them.

* Please note for larger folks and or people with claustophobia, we can modify the tour to skip the Closed Canyon by having lunch in front of it and not entering the maze.

The programs

We start at 08:00 and drive for one hour to Wadi Gazala. From here we start riding the camel for one hour to visit the Salama Canyon. We walk through the canyon for half an hour and have lunch. We then ride the camel for one and a half hour to Melehez Hill. Here we will climb down for about half an hour into Melehez Oasis, to see the four springs that come from the same rock - some of them have fresh and some have salty water. We climb out of the canyon and ride the camel for Melehez Oasis. We ride the camel for one hour to Wadi el Disco to have dinner and spend the night here. The next day after breakfast we ride the camel for half an hour to Naqb el Hamidat, and walk through this camel path for fifteen minutes. We then ride the camel for another ten minutes to the Closed Canyon to visit the canyon for one hour. We ride the camel for one hour to Ain Khudra oasis where we have lunch. We will then walk through the White Canyon and ride the camel for half an hour to take the car back to Dahab. Here we arrive around 5 in the afternoon.
